Mabkhara's are widely used in many households around the Muslim world. Traditionally, they are made from Teak wood and handmade with very simple designs. You can acquire very elegant ones which are designed in metal also. They all share the same design concept. In the UK, it is difficult to come across teak wood strips. You have to plane the hardwood down, that is why most of the time the traditional Mabkhara's are imported.
I appreciate the traditional use of Mabkhara's, so my designs are made from wood with laser precision designs with an elegant motif made from European Walnut and the top handcrafted from English Oak.
You may wonder why 3 sides are engraved and a Motif on the back?
In Islam, accomplishing certain tasks in odd numbers is significant. Imam Tirmidhi mentions a Hadith in which The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is reported to have said, “Certainly Allah is odd and loves that which is odd.” As for the Motif at the back, it reminds me of the round inscribed lettering on the doors of the Prophet ﷺ Masjid in Medina.
The small details make a difference.
Designed & Handcrafted in the UK.
I wanted to move away from the traditional look and give the Mabkhara a modern look with a traditional feel and make them functional at the same time. You can also use them as a candle stand when not using to burn bakhoor.
As our Ustadh Usama Canon Allah Bless him, used to say,
"Don't hate, Fumigate"
