Salat al-Taj (the Prayer of the Crown), or Darood Taj as it’s commonly known in the Indian subcontinent, is a well-known prayer upon the Prophet ﷺ which was composed by Shaykh Abu Bakr bin Salim. Shaykh Abu Bakr was a scholar and gnostic born in the town of Tarim in the Hadhramaut Valley of South Yemen on 13 Jumada al-Thani in 919 AH (corresponding to Saturday, August 16, 1513 CE). Among his titles was Fakhr al Wujud, meaning “the Pride of Existence”
