The other day my iPhone fell from my hands, lo and behold the glass on the back shattered. It has been sometime l worked on a project for my self and l have always wanted to make a wooden back plate for my phone. I found some time working in between projects and got to work.

I took the backplate off and started the tedious process of removing all the shattered glass. I had some figured American black walnut in stock so l decided it would look nice for this project. After plaining and resawing it to 1.5mm, l cut it into shape. For the finish l first applied natural oil to ‘pop’ the grain, then applied two coats of clear semi-gloss lacquer.

This is something l may start making….
